Space Word Search

Six planets headline this grid — MERCURY, VENUS, MARS, JUPITER, SATURN and NEPTUNE; Earth felt too easy, and we will let you guess the other omission — plus the ASTRONAUT, ROCKET and TELESCOPE we use to reach or watch them, and big-idea words like GRAVITY, NEBULA and UNIVERSE. Twenty-one words hide across, down and diagonally in a fifteen-by-fifteen field of letters.

Space is the theme we recommend for the widest age range. A seven-year-old hunting MOON and MARS is playing the same sheet as a twelve-year-old digging out ECLIPSE and ASTEROID, so it works when you need one printable for siblings of different ages, a mixed-ability class or a scout troop. It also pairs naturally with a solar-system unit: ask solvers to sort their found words into planets, objects and ideas afterwards, and the puzzle quietly becomes a categorisation exercise.

A tip for this one: the planet names cluster your search. JUPITER, SATURN, NEPTUNE, MERCURY and VENUS all carry a U, so every U you pass is worth a second look. And remember that on a medium grid one diagonal runs uphill — a word that seems missing is often climbing toward the top-right corner.
