Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information duplixo (“duplixo”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use our games, solvers, answer guides and word tools at duplixo.com, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it plain.
The short version
You do not need an account to play, and nothing on duplixo is locked behind one. Your game progress and streaks are stored on your own device, not on our servers. You can optionally create an on-device account (a display name and, if you want the daily email, an address) — that is the only time we ask for personal details, and it is never required. The site is free because it shows advertising, and our ad and analytics partners use cookies — which you control through our consent tool.
Information we collect
Information you choose to give us
If you use the optional account page, the display name you set and any other profile detail are saved in your browser’s local storage and are not sent to us. If you choose to give an email address — on the account page or a newsletter form — it is sent to our email delivery provider so we can send you the daily puzzle email, and used only for that; you can unsubscribe at any time. If you email us (for a correction, a privacy request or general feedback) we receive your message and email address, and use them only to respond.
On-device storage
Your puzzle progress, streaks, statistics, theme preference and any account profile (such as a display name) are saved in your browser’s local storage. This data stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and you can clear it at any time — from the account page’s reset control or through your browser settings.
Information collected automatically
- Log and device data — standard information such as IP address, browser type and pages viewed, used to operate and secure the site.
- Analytics — aggregate, privacy-respecting usage measurement so we can understand which puzzles are popular and improve the site.
- Advertising — our advertising partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads and, with your consent, to personalise them.
Cookies and consent
We use a consent management platform (built on the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework and Google Consent Mode). If you are in the EEA, the UK or another region that requires it, you will be asked to make a choice before any non-essential cookies are set, and you can change that choice at any time. Full detail is in our Cookie Policy.
How we use information
- To operate, secure and improve the site and its puzzles.
- To understand aggregate usage and measure performance.
- To display advertising that keeps the site free, and to respond to messages you send us.
- To send the daily puzzle email, if you asked for it, and to let you keep an optional on-device profile.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Legal bases (for EEA/UK users)
We rely on your consent for analytics and personalised advertising; on our legitimate interests in securing the site, understanding aggregate usage and serving non-personalised ads where permitted; and on legal obligation where the law requires it. You may withdraw consent at any time.
How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share data with advertising and analytics providers acting on our behalf, and where necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer. Under California law, our use of cookies for cross-context behavioural advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing”; you can opt out using the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” control in our consent tool.
Your rights
- EEA/UK: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawing consent, and lodging a complaint with your data protection authority.
- California: the right to know, delete and correct, to opt out of sale/sharing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Because any account you create lives on your own device rather than on our servers, most data we process is either on your device (which you can clear yourself, including from the account page) or held by our partners — such as our email delivery provider, for an address you chose to give — under their own controls. To make a request or ask a question, email our team or use the consent tool for cookie choices.
Children
duplixo is a general-audience site intended for users aged 13 and over. It is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers, retention and security
The site and our partners may process data in countries other than yours, with appropriate safeguards. We keep automatically collected data only as long as needed for the purposes above; on-device data is controlled by you. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. We will revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, note them on the page.
