Farm Word Search

Here is the whole farm on one sheet: the TRACTOR and the PLOW, the BARN, SILO and COOP they park beside, and the animals doing the real work — a ROOSTER, a GOAT, a DONKEY, a PIGLET and a DUCKLING among them. Twenty-one words, with HAYSTACK and SCARECROW supplying the long finds.

Farm vocabulary shows up in early-elementary curricula everywhere, which makes this the sheet we would tuck into a unit on where food comes from, a folder for the day the class visits a real farm, or the seat pocket for a long drive through actual farmland — there is something quietly satisfying about circling SILO moments after passing one. The comfortable reading level is about second grade and up.

The tip: notice that the baby animals are the long words. PIGLET and DUCKLING carry more letters than GOAT or CORN ever will, and SCARECROW at nine letters is the longest thing standing in the field. Long words are always easier to find than short ones — there are simply fewer places they can fit — so send young solvers after the babies and the scarecrow first, and save four-letter GOAT for the very end.

Paper & ink

Press Print / save as PDF above (or use your browser’s own print command) and only the sheet goes to the printer — no site header, no buttons. The puzzle prints on page one and the answer key on page two, whether or not the key is showing on screen. Letter and A4 paper both fit without changing any settings, and the sheet is designed for black-and-white printing, so a plain laser printer produces exactly what you see here. To keep a digital copy instead, choose “Save as PDF” as the destination in the print dialog.

This puzzle is free to print and share for personal and classroom use — run off thirty copies for the class without asking. It is not for resale, and a credit to duplixo.com is appreciated when you pass it along. No sign-up required.
