Sports Word Search
Twenty sports fill this grid, from the big field games — SOCCER, FOOTBALL, BASEBALL — to the ones that get less airtime, like ARCHERY, LACROSSE and KARATE. Three of the longest entries, BASKETBALL, VOLLEYBALL and GYMNASTICS, run ten letters each, which is a satisfying amount of pencil to lay down when you finally corner one.
We made this sheet with PE teachers and coaches in mind. It is a natural handout when the gym is double-booked, a quiet-time option on a sports-camp schedule, and a decent icebreaker: ask kids to put a star next to every sport they have actually played and you get a conversation starter for free. The reading level sits comfortably around third grade and up.
The tip: doubled letters are your friend here. SOCCER, TENNIS and SWIMMING each carry one, and so does every one of the ball games — FOOTBALL, BASEBALL, BASKETBALL, VOLLEYBALL. A repeated letter pair is far easier for the eye to catch than any single letter, so sweep the grid for twins first — CC, NN, MM, OO, LL — and half the list falls before you have to do any hard looking at all.

How to print
Press Print / save as PDF above (or use your browser’s own print command) and only the sheet goes to the printer — no site header, no buttons. The puzzle prints on page one and the answer key on page two, whether or not the key is showing on screen. Letter and A4 paper both fit without changing any settings, and the sheet is designed for black-and-white printing, so a plain laser printer produces exactly what you see here. To keep a digital copy instead, choose “Save as PDF” as the destination in the print dialog.
