How to solve today’s Waffle

Hint 1 Where to begin Reveal
Trust the green tiles first. Any tile already in its correct spot is fixed for good, and because the waffle’s nine crossing cells each belong to two words, every green corner you rely on locks an across word and a down word at once.
Hint 2 Read the shape Reveal
There are six words: three across on rows 1, 3 and 5, and three down on columns 1, 3 and 5. Solve the corners before the middles — a shared corner that is wrong is dragging two words down at once.
Hint 3 The top and the left Reveal
The top row begins with W and ends with H. The left column shares that opening W and ends with E.
Hint 4 Through the middle Reveal
The middle row runs from R to N; the centre column from T to G. They cross on a shared letter in the very middle of the grid.

How Waffle works
Waffle is a word puzzle played on a 21-tile grid — a 5×5 square with the four inner cells removed, which leaves the waffle’s familiar lattice. Six five-letter words hide inside it: three across on the first, middle and last rows, and three down on the first, middle and last columns. Wherever an across word meets a down word, the two share the corner letter, so all six words are knitted together.
The tiles arrive scrambled, and your job is to put them back by swapping pairs. After every swap each tile is scored against the word it sits in: a correct-spot tile is home, a present tile belongs to that row or column but in a different cell, and an absent tile does not belong in that word. You have 15 swaps; the fewer you use, the more stars you keep.

What do the tile colours mean in Waffle?
Each tile is scored against the word or words running through it. Look-alike tiles feel interchangeable, so a swap that seems right can move one into a cell that was already fine, burning a move. The amber “present” tiles are the tell: when a letter keeps glowing amber in the same line, it wants a different seat in that very word.
